Electrical wiring issues

Featured Replies

I need to replace the worn out cables that go in to my tailgate. I made the massive error of cutting all cables before attaching them to a new cable kit https://www.trodo.se/kabelreparationssats-baklucka-metzger-2320083

Now I have 7 back cables which I cannot tell apart that need to be connected. I cannot open the tailgate, nor does the light inside the car function anymore. I've recently been made redundant at work so not really financially able to have a mechanic fix it for lots of money.

OOOOOH !!! 🙄

That's going to take a bit of time to sort out. You will need a multimeter and you will have to check each black wire one by one and match up on the wiring diagram.

Here is a link to the Ford schematics for a 2013 S-Max on my personal Google drive:

Crikey, even when I've replaced 4 x simple HT leads I did them one by one to avoid error - that was a very courageous thing to do! Good luck...

Can you not open the boot with the key in the keyhole and turning it ?

Or did the clever people at Ford not fit it with a mechanical method of opening the boot ?

I might be reading the diagram wrong, but it looks to me that the tailgate loom goes to a couple of connections just inside the rear of the car. I would say that your best bet would be to buy another loom on Ebay and to replace the whole lot. Given you previous mistake, I'd do this one connection at a time.
