Engine issue

Featured Replies

Back again😀 engine started making a chirping noise recently, and was accompanied by white smoke from engine, removed the cover and the cushioning underneath had melted and soldered onto the engine, tbh no clue what im looking at anyone able to help out here and what could be cause of chirping/chuckling noise.
Timing belt was replace not so long ago and was recently serviced so air filter & oil, etc changed, have been notified that pistons are worn but passed a perfomance test so could be a relating issue? Thanks in advance

What a mess.

Worn pistons is a new one on me, are you sure it's not the injectors that were worn?  Piston rings could be worn if the compression is lower than it should be.

Usually that black sticky stuff is caused by loose injectors allowing soot and diesel to blow out of the cylinder.  That causes a chuffing noise.  But as you've mentioned the engine cover melting, it may be bits of that.  Tbh it needs to be degreased and cleaned up so we can see the fault(s).

The wiring on the left hand injector looks suspect to me as well.  May just be that the sheathing has come off but definitely want to double check.
