Mk2 facelift aerial problem

Featured Replies

Hi, my partner has an '09 Focus which he bought 2nd hand and it was full of bluetooth wires + connections which he didn't want as he doesn't like wires everywhere.
He ripped out what he thought was a bluetooth wire which was very thin + attached to the windscreen on the passenger side.
Then the DAB Radio stopped working so he guessed that he'd taken out the aerial. He re-attached the wire and it seemed to work OK but over the last month the signal has got progressively worse...

Any suggestions what he needs to do to get it working again very gratefully accepted!

Many Thanks

Sounds like the car has an aftermarket DAB system fitted, hence the antenna attached to the windscreen and visible wires etc.

Could be fixed with a new antenna, lots available on eBay, Halfords etc

With eBay versions etc just check they are for LHS of screen as some are aimed at LHD markets with antenna lining up on the right side instead

That's great, thanks Troy!

Next question, assuming we have to take the stereo out, how's this done please? Thank you 🙂

Head unit should come out once you remove the fascia surrounding it. There’s 4 screws hiding the standard radio into the dash.

May be worth posting a photo up if you’ve possibly got an aftermarket head unit fitted - some versions the whole head unit comes out with the fascia or other methods needed if it’s got a generic head unit and adaptors etc

Perfect, thank you!

In my personal experience, stick on windscreen aerials for DAB are exceptionally poor. You may find this of interest... (You can buy one in Halfords for £10)
