Steering Rack Replacement Ford Focus 2011 Ambient

Hi Everyone,

My electronic steering rack in my 2011 Ford Focus Ambient 1.6L (manual and petrol) Hatchback has died. My VIN is: WF0KXXGCBKBT67889 and my wheel is 16". I have contacted the ford dealer they have said that I need OEM: HV6Z3504EW for the replacement ($2900). They also warned to not get other parts as it wont work in the car. I have read on similiar forums that this is commonly said and that other racks can be used if the tyre size is the same. I was just wondering if anyone has had experience with this?
