Programming a third smart key 2017 mk3.5

Featured Replies

Is it still possible to do this on the mk3.5 using the 2 present keys and ignition on/off method? I know it was possible on the mk3 focus pre 2015 but not sure about the facelift as there’s no info in the handbook and not much on Google for UK cars

For models that were released 2013 onwards Ford removed the option for users/owners to programme additional or replacement keys themself using the two original key method.

It is now basically a trip to your Ford dealer to get additional keys. The process used by Ford erases all keys that you have for the vehicle and then they re-programme in your existing keys (so make sure you take all of the keys you currently have) and then add in the additional new key.

The reason for removing/deleting all previous keys is so that if any have been lost or stolen then they will no longer be able to start the car.
