Headlight Leveling - '12 Focus Titanium X Estate

Featured Replies

Afternoon guys

I've posted previously about issues with my headlights and managed to get them working again by sticking on a second-hand ballast from Ebay.

However, 2 days after them working again, both lights have dropped to the bottom default (safety) position and leveling is no longer being carried out.

I've managed to connect Forscan and got the error codes attached to this message - which says both motors have gone.

At the same exact time?!?

Could this be that both lights have the dodgy wire issue I've read about on here before?  I believe there is a gentleman who sells a kit for this issue for a low price, rather than the £1000 per light that Ford are talking about!?

Any and all advice appreciated.  Effectively, my car is worth £3k and without the lights it may as well be written off.

The left code was similar.

Check the headlight leveling fuse. Either F39 or F43

Fuses checked. No issues.

Replacement second hand light fitted, same issue with leveling motor code.

Either there's something else wrong, or I've bought another dud headlight.

Wearing a bit thin, this issue.

I had issue with headlights but 1 at the time. Wiring inside of the headlight has been replaced and extended before I got the car. I took them of about 5 times to check every wire inside and pins as well. But eventually found the problem, it was pins outside of the headlights and plugs. I think pins on the plug slightly lose. Cleaned it all, sprayed with contact cleaner, 3 months no problem.

My headlights are hid cornering and self leveling.
