Focus 2011 Mk3 Titanium X Headlight Range Controller Error

Featured Replies

Morning all,

Thought I would see what the hive mind here can come up with for this one.  I've had a good old google search and coming up blank really.  The following error is coming up on the code reader, also attached,  but can't find anything specific about it or how to resolve it.  B1A5887 Right Headlight range control motor No Signal.  Dash comes up with the Headlight Malfunction warning, however all the lights work fine, they just aren't auto levelling.

Has anyone else had this error or have an idea on how to resolve it?

Thanks in advance!

Are you saying that both right and left headlights are not auto levelling ?

Probably the motor has failed.

I don't know if you'd be able to get just a motor

I believe so, they certainly don't light up the road that well and there doesn't appear to be any movement when I turn the car on.  I believe I read somewhere that if one isn't auto leveling, they both don't?  But i could be wrong.  They are the Xenons.

Check Fuse 39 and Fuse 43 in the engine bay fusebox.

Check the headlight leveling fuse. Either F39 or F43

Finally got around to look at that and sadly that didn't fix the issue.  Replaced both and no joy.

So when I turn the car on the lights are facing forward, then immediately point down. I've seen on this forum a few people having the same error on the dash, and was resolved by replacing a wire coming loose within the headlight unit itself, however my headlights don't have that cable.

Only other thing is could it be the sensor which is attached to the leveling arm by the suspension? or the actual motor itself?  My mechanic mate has had a look too and he's also coming up blanks with the error code.  Very frustrating!
