Wet belt replaced, how often should I get the oil changed?

Featured Replies

Hello,

I have a Ford Focus EcoBoost 1.0 Titanium 2016, 78k mileage.  Yearly serviced.

Car was going into limp mode so I had the vacuum valve replaced and decided to just get the wet belt done too and all the other parts that were need (Official Ford parts).  It runs great now, I must have got used to its degrading state over time.

The mechanics said the engine was actually ok and oil looked good (yearly service I guess).

Anyway I will always have a yearly full service, but how often should I get the oil replaced?  I do about 10k miles a year.

Thanks

As often as you can afford to.

It depends on many factors. What sort of journeys do you do? How often is the car used? Does the engine always get up to normal temperature? Do you do lots of town or motorway driving ?

In short, if you can afford to get the oil changed every six months then get it done. Otherwise try and get it changed once a year. just remember always use the correct Ford specification oil. Never use any kind of oil additive, and never ever use an engine oil flush.

Oil Requirements.

Oil and filter, with the correct oil, every 10,000 miles will be fine.

NEVER use flush.

Thanks, if 10k then that should fall in line with my annual full service at the garage.

  • 1 year later...

Garage changed oil on service again today despite wet belt & oil being changed in November? They said they wanted to change oil again to flush any particles out
