Keyless Starting Issue

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have a Focus 2014, Titanium X, Automatic, 2L, Deisel and have a probelm with the keyless starting.

I have 2 keys and both are unlocking/locking all the doors and the boot button is also working fine, but when I get in the car an press the start button the car says "Key not detected", but when I place either fob in the emergency hole the car starts fine.

Just before this happened I opened the bonet and checked the oil & topped up the washer fluid, other than that I did nothing.

I have checked the fuse in the boot & thats fine, I have also located the RF reciever and when I disconnect it the doors no longer work, plug it back in and the doors work again but still no keyless starting.

What am I missing, what else can it be?

Thanks for help

Stuart

Do you have both keyless entry and keyless start or remote entry with keyless start?

I think the RF receiver is only for entry.  There are other antennae around the car for keyless start.  They're small rectangles.  There's one under the boot carpet that prevents the key being locked in the boot.  I believe the others are under the centre console and one in the dash near the driver.  Presumably it's only the one near the driver that's used for keyless starting, although they may all be linked.

Try changing the batteries first

Both batteries already changed, the doors open from 20 meters so they are ok. It just won’t start keyless anymore

I'd say that you are going to have to use FORScan and read the DTC's to see why it is not detecting the key.

Could it be the main car battery is low?

Hi,

Is this something I have to take it to a garage for?

You need a Windows Laptop, the software FORScan (free) and a 'vLinker FS' connecting cable and then you can read the Ford diagnostic trouble codes (DTC's)

FORScan: https://www.forscan.org/download.html

vLinker FS: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Vgate-vLinker-Adapter-FORScan-MS-CAN/dp/B0952P4MLP
