Clutch pedal - something broken - foot on steering UJ

Featured Replies

Hi, I have a issue following having to do a near emergency stop and slamming brakes & clutch when someone cut infront of me on a roundabout the other day. When I pressed hard on the clutch I felt and heard something snap/crack/break in the footwell area. I was able to continue driving but I noticed that my left foot now rubs against the union joint of the steering column when the clutch pedal is all the way down.

It seems as though the pedal is going slightly further down than it used to, like some sort of pedal stop/housing has gone? I can't find any info about this and just find lots of people with catching issue saying it's 'normal' or that it's 'just big feet'. However I definitely heard the crack, and now the rubbing is noticable unless I use only the tip of my foot.

This is on my Mk3 Focus estate. Clutch still seems to function fine and the pedal springs back exactly as before.

Any insights into this? Thanks.
