Auto stop/start not working?

Featured Replies

I’ve just bought a Ford Focus Vignale 1.5 diesel and I noticed that the engine doesn’t automatically stop at traffic lights. Yes it is enabled. The symbol appears crossed out on the dashboard.

Could it be a battery problem?

Yes, do yourself a favour and forget about the 'feature'. Ford only introduced it to get through some tighter emissions certification. Nothing more than a gimmick, and destroying the planet by getting folk to throw out perfectly serviceable batteries in the vain hope of getting it to work.

There are literally hundreds of threads on this if you have a search around. Same story on most other car makes forums also.

Non stop?? Surely it's meant to start/stop - maybe it's faulty 🤣

Sorry. My start stop works as it should. Stops engine at a stand still and starts when i have to drive off.
I was wary about it. But after I bought a Bosch to replace my genuine ford the Bosch worked for a week.  So I scrapped that then after looking on another forum. Many were recommending the Yuasa.
had it fitted 6 months ago and works perfectly. Highly recommend to solve stop start and electrical gremlins.
Thank me later

When I got my Focus I wanted to start/stop to work as well, so replaced battery.  I had original one from 2015. Replaced it with Varta. Now when I start the car I automatically press the button to disable it as I find it annoying. Maybe it's good for environment but I don't think it's good for the car.

I do the same now it works I disable it. But bugged me when it didn’t work. As I like my car to run and work perfect

Reminds me when I was a kid, and use to play with an electric light switch, turning it on/off/on/off before getting shouted at that I'd break it doing that. Either a blown bulb, blown fuse, broken switch etc etc. A light is designed to be turned on and left alone - so is your car engine!
