Focus ecoboost 1.0 wet belt inspection

Featured Replies

Hi there

This is probably not a new subject but I am considering my Focus 1.6 TDCI to a Focus Ecoboost 1.0 as my driving profile has changed from 20kmls per year to less than 8kmls per year.

I have heard al lot of horror stories about the Ecoboost engine but also head about a lot of people who is happy about the car and engine.

Is there any way of checking from outside if the belt is deteriorating and is is possible to check if the suction filter is dirty or clogged without taking off the oil pan?

Any advice or suggestions is highly appreciated

Chris

Are you crazy ? Unless you are buying a Focus Mk4 Ecoboost 1.0 don't even think about it.

No, and No.

Just try using the forum search facility and looking at "Ecoboost" that should give you enough to read for at least 10 years.

Only during oil inspection if there are any worn participles in oil (carter).
