Best Auto Transmission Fluid

Featured Replies

Looking for some advice.

I’ve recently bought a 2012 Galaxy with auto Powershift. Unfortunately, the dreaded Transmission Malfunction warning started to show. I’ve read through lots of previous post and found some great advice.

Gearbox oil and filter change is my first job, but what is the best oil to use? Are there some better than others? And how many litres does it take once drained?

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Not sure if this has been sorted out already, but in terms of gearbox oil, I would change it not at the recommended 37,500/60.000 mile/km interval but sooner.

The make is not of that much importance, as long as it is Ford spec, I used MPM oil, but have heard that Manoll which is 140 quid per 20 litres is equally good.

If the problems persist, you may want to look into the plastic retainers that are in the torque convertor. They tend to break, and particles will contaminate your mechatronic and valve body causing shifting problems.
