Help needed!..heros don't wear capes

Featured Replies

Good morning, .I'm new to this chat thing, but I really don't know how this is possible to find a part I so desperately need...

My father in law has a 93/94 escort mk5. 1.8 16v.."so what" you may say.

..he retired back to Barbados 24 years ago...I've been maintaining parts for the past 2 decades, and on return from visiting him last week ,now know he has a part I can't get hold of!!!

A power steering pressure hose!!

I've tried every way possible..main dealer,..Ford breakers..no joy :(

His car is the only one on the island, and being an 85 year old Ford man...needs his car back on the road...

It's not registered anymore in the UK,..and now resides in the sunny climate of the West Indies .with a pipe that has just fell apart...

I need a hero to help me please,..to get that old man some freedom from his wife with dementia,..not only would make his life easier,it would make me so happy to see his face smile again..

Any helpers...?

Thank you..

My name is Julie...and I'm praying for a miracle 🙏🏼

You should be able to go to an heating engineering type of place, with the old pipe and they will be able to make you a new pipe from the old pipe.

I would take both hoses and have new ones made.

Do you have the VIN number for the car?  We can try to find the correct part number if so.  Though it's unlikely that there'll still be a new old-stock part on the shelf now.

As above, there must be some hydraulic pipe shops on Barbados?  Every crane and boat needs hydraulic pipes, and they need regular replacement.

Thanks Tom....I said that to my father in law...trouble is,he's old and now looking after his wife who has dementia...it's us lucky sods here in the UK...gotta try to sort it...I've only got the chassis number...is that the vin?...excuse my ignorance...lol...

Ok,...nipping to Barbados to get the part ..back in a jiffy...

Truly thankful for your message...

Yes, the chassis number should be the same as the VIN number.

Nowadays they start with 'WF0' though may not have done on that age of Ford.
