Government funding is always mentioned in trying to promote EVs. Here's the thing. Government deals in humongous quantities of money which are just above the conceptional understanding of most ordinary folk.

Let's take just 3 recent high profile spends of government.

1) HS2 £100 Billion

2) Covid PPE squandered at £10 Billion

3) Covid 'track & trace' £37 Billion tossed down the drain

Those 3 items alone could have bought outright (not subsidised) over 6 Million (6,000,000) EVs to give out to the population.

That's why I'm a big fan of the cash society, avoid giving government any tax earnings as they genuinely have no idea how to spend our money and squander it on the most atrocious projects, and that's governments of all flavours...
