MOT and break pads from last service/Mot

Featured Replies

Hi

Last year at Fords my break pads were at 50% worn on my 2019 fiesta, done nearly 24k, I estimate about 4k miles a year I guess. How quick do pads wear down, I know that depends on a lot of factors, just interested what the legal limit is? Do you think I should be ok this year?

Brake pads fail MOT at 1.5mm.  (Roughly 85% worn on the percentage system.)

As a rough ball park, I'd hope to get around 50k miles from a set on a Fiesta or Focus, despite modern pad material being softer than older ones.  Yours probably are original, and unless you're jumping on the brake every time a leaf floats past, are probably still less than 60% worn and will pass MOT no problem.

As well as the above, with older  low mileage cars often the Discs need replaced because of corrosion, so the Pads need to be changed at the same time.

That’s good to know, thanks chaps.

Just an update break pads were at 57% worn when serviced last week, so all good still.

I got an MOT with service for £289 (plus oil change) didn't think that was to bad for a Ford service, although the service was only the light service not the 2 yearly full service, but with the AA breakdown as well, not bad.

My tyre sealant can had expired, I hope to never need to use it, but for my question was thinking of just getting a new can of sealant from Amazon, but then had me thinking about a space saver for my fiesta?

Anyone got a link for getting the correct space saver? think its better than using that sealant stuff!

Thanks

EDIT/ I asked this in the fiesta forum, so no worries.
