As the title says.

Are all Mk1 plastic grilles universal?

Someone has asked me to get a Mk1 grille from a breakers. They say the type doesn't matter as long as it will fit.

 

 

 

Pretty sure they're a completely different size & shape.

I mean the upper grille with the badge. Some ebay listings claim they are universal.

The lower grilles are a completely different shape.

I'm sure they're the same.

The headlamp size was the same

The bonnet is the same

The top lip of the bumper is the same

And I've seen 1.5s with the collection mesh grille on

Yes sorry, I was thinking of the lower grill.

The upper grill itself is different shape on the facelift, but comes with a thick surround so that it fills the same space.

The Focus RS was based on the mk1 and top grille was a straight fit onto my ST170 which was mk1.5

Thanks for the replies. I managed to get a black plastic mesh pattern grille from the breakers for £10.

There was a pre-facelift Mk1 at the breakers also.

The earlier straight slat type grille seemed to be made from a less fragile plastic. If it was going on my car I would have fitted that type.
