Mk3 focus 1.0 ecoboost 2015

Featured Replies

Hi all,my focus nearly cuts out, everytime I stop at traffic lights etc, ie the rev counter comes right down, but doesn't stall the engine

To what ?

750RPM ?

Yeah rev counter drops, and sounds like it's going to cut out,but doesn't then rev counter goes back to normal

  • Author

Goes down just below zero, then back to normal

Give it a really good, full service and see if it improves

This is exactly what has been done, the car was running rough a few weeks ago, so changed coil pack and plugs, no different, anyway mot was due, failed on emissions, changed cat and sensors, was fine for a day or two, now just feels like it's going to cut out, when I stop at a junction or lights, rev counter goes down near zero then back to normal till the time I stop again, apart from that the car drives absolutely fine

Have you changed the HT leads?

  • Author

Just the coils and plugs

HT leads next then

There aren't any HT leads on a 1.0 EcoBoost.  Individual coils over each plug.

  • Author

Didn't know it had it ht leads as the coil goes on top of the plugs

Getting sick of wasting money on this car now

I need to start reading the titles better🙄

lol

Does it have stop start?

If it does, turn off stop start and then see if it still tries to stall.

If it doesn't try to stall with S/S off then you need a battery

If it does, check all the inlet hoses are fully secure and there is no damage on the intercooler

Oil pressure warning doesn't ever flicker while you're driving, does it?

  • Author

I always turn off the stop start as its a pain sometimes, no oil warning lights or nothing

So it still tries to stall with S/S off?

  • Author

On or off still the same

That is a weird one

How many miles has it done?

Have the wet belts been changed?

Is the vac pump working OK?

  • Author

Changed top sensor before cat , then went for re test and it passed, the next day it was like I explained, been intouch with garage and he said maybe the sensor is knackered as this controls the fuel/air mixture

  • Author

95,000

Wet belt done

Not sure about vac pump

Ordered one of these as the inside had come out on mine, where the little rubber thing is

That can cause it

I've previously had my engine running without the exhaust down pipe fitted and even the turbo removed without it affecting tickover so my guess is it's nothing to do with the cat/sensors.

Are there any fault codes present/do you have Forscan available to check?
