Ford Focus MK2.5 STV GEM module suspect

Featured Replies

Hi, ive got a MK2.5 focus that does the engine malfunction, reduced speed and no buttons work on drivers door, nor central lock for that door.
ive resoldered speedo, checked all fuses, measured ohm on canbus and measured for shorts. also put in a fresh battery.

My question is:
ive got another focus mk2.5 thats perfectly fine. would i create any problems for that focus if i "borrowed" the GEM for testing in the broken one?

You would need to upload the AsBuilt data to the replacement GEM

even for troubleshooting purposes? will it throw codes or engine malfunction without writing to it?
i dont want to end up with two broken focuses!

Just for troubleshooting you could give it a try without changing the AsBuilt data if the two cars are very similar but the PATS security might prevent it from starting

i was under the impression that only ECU and cluster stored PATS data?
ill do a backup of both gems and reflash the known working one then, and if everything goes wrong, ill have my backup files! 🙂
