JohnStokes
Noticed my car seems to be making a whiring noise for a few seconds from under the bonnet after switching off my ignition. The car seems to do it even if the engine hasn't been switched on and just wanted to check to see if anyone knows what it may be or if its a usual noise for the car to make. My car is a 2010 Focus Zetec S Petrol.
unofix
Perfectly normal, its just the fuel pump pressurising the system.

Darn it, I knew the answer to that but was satisfied to have it confirmed by a resident expert! 😁 If you're a fan of Car SOS or Wheeler Dealers, you'll know it's the most common cause of a 'restored' car not to start as the fuel pump usually fails...
