Assuming you have a Manual car, it sounds like your Clutch is starting to slip and that could be the cause of your Brake Release problem as well.

Have you  noticed a funny smell after the RPM's have been going up and down.

You need to determine if it is slipping first. There are plenty of instructions online that show you how to tell if a Clutch is slipping, or any experienced Mechanic or driver will be able to tell you if you let them drive the car.

If it is slipping then the only solution is to replace it unfortunately.

It could be a Software or Hardware issue.

There are a couple of things you could try that will cost you nothing.

The first one is to disconnect the Battery for half an hour and there is an outside chance that will fix it. Wait a few minutes to allow the car to go partly to sleep before disconnecting and the Window One Touch Up may need resetting first.

There is also a procedure for resetting the Electronic Handbrake switch that needs done if the switch has been removed. I don't know what the symptoms of not resetting it are though. I'm not at home now so I will post the procedure later.

If nothing else has obviously been damaged or removed then you need to get set up with FORcan and look for any Codes. These cars have two Clutch Position sensors, if one of them is not working then that could cause the problem.

You should be able to Live Monitor them with FORScan.

Here is the procedure for the Parking Brake switch, although having read it again it probably will not fix the problem.

Parking Brake Switch The parking brake switch is a 3 position switch with 2 sets of 3 internal micro switches, one set is for APPLY and one set is for RELEASE. The 3 switch positions are APPLY (pulled up), NEUTRAL (at rest or static) and RELEASE (pushed down). Whenever the parking brake switch is disconnected and then reconnected, a DTC sets in the ABS module and the ABS module disables the parking brake system. To restore parking brake system functionality and to clear the DTC, the parking brake switch must be moved through all 3 positions twice within 5 seconds pausing for approximately one-half second when the switch is in the NEUTRAL position between each apply and release.

Here is the procedure for the Windows, it is in your Owners Handbook, you may not need to do it, I never when I changed my Battery.
