2015 Ford Focus Titanium Estate Auto Gearbox change

So my focus when it as it was making some strange sounds first they thought a Gearbox reprogram would fix the job but it's looking like a new gearbox (thank god it's still under warranty). 

Now the garage it is with sent it away to get reprogramed. Will the new gearbox need to be reprogramed before driving or can you still drive it. Waiting time to get it programmed is a few weeks and already had no car for almost a month

    I don't know much about auto gearboxes but few weeks waiting it seems like a long time. I would thought good electrician with the right equipment could do it at the spot.

    That's what I thought but even I phoned around and it seams a lot of transmission places are busy right now. But hopefully once the new one is in I can get it back until they can get it in to program
