Tyre cracking

Featured Replies

We've had our Tourneo almost 3 months now and today when doing some maintenance checks I've noticed that 3 out of the 4 tyres appear to be from 2020 and have cracking on side walls and between the treads , on one of the tyres the brand is very difficult to read clear due to the cracking / degrading

I bought from a main dealer and have only just noticed this , should these have been replaced at time of sale and what course of action do I have to get them replaced if needed .

I have a years warranty but I'd argue I'll end up with a large bill in the near future.

To be fair, when buying a used car, a detailed tire inspection is a must, and so easy with them being so visible (unless it's damage to rear of the sidewall). If they are at all iffy, there's your negotiation point.  I doubt the dealer will entertain any type of compensation, and you may just have to suck it in and replace yourself. Still, lesson learned for next time...

Minor cracking is not a reason for failure on the MOT.  The seller has no reason to replace them as long as the tread is above the legal limit, they hold air and have no cuts through to the cords.

That's no problem, I've raised a query but just to get opinions before it's on for other work
