Mk7 Transit 2.2 failing fuel pump learns

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Hoping someone here can maybe give me some pointers. I've changed the SCV and PRV and I'm now trying to do the pump learns. I've reset the PRV counter OK using Forscan but when trying to do the pump learn it fails at 46% saying there's an intermittent problem with the fuel pressure sensor shorting to vbatt. Now the simplistic view is that there really is a problem with the sensor but...... many people have told me that they are bomb proof and never go faulty. Haynes helpfully says that it can't be replaced and you have to replace the fuel rail. I'm not seeing any fault codes at all. So... is there another possible reason for that error? I'm going to have a look at the wiring when I get a chance and it's not raining. There's been some suggestion that a low battery voltage can cause it - is that a known thing?

I do have a new pressure sensor but held off on fitting it when I was told they don't fail and I can't find anything on torque figures to fit it. Just in case does anyone have that information? The PRV goes to a crazy torque figure on the other end of the rail but I can't see the sensor withstanding anything like that sort of force as it's a pressed thing with a fairly small threaded stud.

Hello, Could you fix the problem?

I have exactly the same issue with Forscan V 2.3.63. After having replaced 4 injectors and the pump I checked carefully the wiring of the rail pressure sensor, I checked the output signal with an oscilloscope, I compared the curve with the values from Forscan (pressure and votage). They are OK. Since physical check and Forscan monitoring gives consistent values I am now almost sure that the issue is not coming from the Rail pressure sensor.

I tried with different engine temperature conditions with always the same stop at 46% with "intermittent problem- fuel pressure sensor short to vbatt. which is not the case.

Any ideas on what to do next will be warmly welcome.
