Focus mk 2.5 loose gearstick and won't go into any gear

Featured Replies

Hi all. I was driving home from work today in my 2010 1.6 petrol Focus when the car went into high revs while changing gear and then it wouldn't go into any gear. I can make a full circle with the gearstick. It's being looked at tomorrow but i've been told it might be the linkage. I just put a new clutch in it a month ago at a cost of £300 all in, does anyone know how much am I looking at for this issue? Could this issue be related to having the clutch recently replaced?

Thanks

So lets remove all of the pure guess work of 'what, where and how' and wait until it's been looked at. 🤔

Gear linkage would have been removed for the clutch change.  It's probably just popped off again.

Ironically, when I had the exact same issues with my MK2 1.8 TDCi, it turned out to be an internal failure within the gearbox. 1 used gearbox and a few hours labour later and she was back on the road.

I'm pleased we didn't waste time trying to diagnose the OP's problem since they've not returned after asking the question 10:30pm Thursday.

By now the car will have been looked at by the garage on Friday and the OP will answers to all their questions.
