Boost solonoid diagram

Featured Replies

Hi guys. I bought a 2.0l Ford Smax. I'm very familiar with thr 1.6 but went for a nice little upgrade. Car looked like a max power magazine car so I had to buy it. Problem is.. Previous owner has done what I can assume is an Egr delete and map. The EGR is just swinging tied up but my main concern is the boost solonoid now have no electrics (apart from 1) and I keep getting an error on my OBD reader with engine light staying on saying boost solonoid. It's a propper bodge job under the bonet and I don't know where anything belongs. Going back to stock would be my option but I think the wires have been cut. I hard wired a boost solonoid but it got rather hot so I'm not happy with it (also didn't clear the code) and the pipes... Where on earth do they go?? Any diagrams for me to follow would be greatly appreciated. I think I'm going to need to buy a new wiring loom.

Thanks

Edit - There's more than one 2.0 engine for the S-Max.  Can you confirm which one it is?

Alternatively look on catcar for pipe diagrams.  Using your VIN should ensure the correct 2.0 is selected.

Vac pipes are under 'Chassis', then 'Brake Booster etc'.  Not under powertrain where you'd expect.

Hi, thanks for the reply.

So I have according to the website found the pipe layout.. Still doesn't make sense though. From the vacuum pump there is a splitter but in the pic it doesn't.. See attached..

I just can't make sense of it. Put all the pipes as I assumed they should be and had boost for a little while about 30 seconds but still getting these error codes... P2263 and P0490 also the traction control light comes on too

Thanks

Can you post a picture showing the vac pipe runs on your engine to compare?

There will be one from the vac pump to the brake brake booster, which isn't shown on that diagram.

Traction control light is just used as secondary 'engine' warning on some Fords.

Hi, yeah there is a T in the vac hose from the pump to the brake servo, I've put them in the places I think they go but now after driving for 2 minutes traction control light comes on. It's doing my head in now and I don't like running dodgy cars on the road, especially when the kids are tagging along 😂 can't upload pics as files are too big. Can you add me on WhatsApp?

The black hose from second solonoid goes to the turbo.

I've now swapped the hoses on the first solonoid around, still the same problem. I've obviously bought a dud car 🙄

All sorted guys. The one way valve was restricting flow. 😅
