Mk2.5 Focus 1.6TDCi Aux Heater on after Car Locked

Featured Replies

1.6TDCi Electrical fault: car locked & 6A going through the auxiliary heater circuit.. What could possibly be causing that?
Took the fuse out & measured current from the battery once car in ‘sleep mode’ (all locked & doors shut etc, after 1 hr - virtually nothing else is being energised - which is good obvs..
Put all back together & checked fault codes - nothing. Checked in Forscan for the auxiliary heater status & it behaved perfectly - only showed "on" when heater turned on in car with fan..

Checked the instrument cluster (GEM) and have re-flowed all joints on the multi-pin connector - all perfect. Problem still there..

Why on earth would the car want the auxiliary heater on when it’s locked up???

Are we sure that is for the PTC heater?  If there's a fuel fired park heater on this car, they can be programmed to preheat the engine & interior for a specific time each day.  I've never seen that option on a UK Focus so far, but might be worth checking your dash menus for a park heater option.
