Problems with alternator charge

Featured Replies

Hello. I am having a problem with my Ford Focus mk2 2.0 tdci. At idle the charge is 14.5V, but when you barely touch the accelerator without the rpm increasing, the charge voltage does rise to 16.8v. The alternator is completely new. Has it happened to anyone?

Disconnect the charge controller plug from the alternator and see if the voltage remains constant at 13.6V

If it doesn't then I suspect the voltage regulator may be faulty on the new alternator

Well, i Will try. IS there a possibility that the accelerator IS "mixig" voltaje due to a problem in it?

Thanks!

If I understand your question, then the answer is no.

Exactly, I mean that if the accelerator is not touched (car idling) it charges fine, but with the Minimum movement of the accelerator pedal the voltage rises to almost 17v without the engine rpm increasing.

So... Any news here. I have removed the alternator connector and the alternator still fixed at 14v that seems its right.

In the number of the conector 3 i have 12,8v(battery voltaje), both ones nothing. And the side of the alternator nothing in the three pins. Anyone hve the wiring diagram?

I just tested pin 3 and 1 and I have continuity between them, and if I measure them I also have voltage (the same as from battery to ground). Tried turning on a/c, radio, etc. and car without regulating voltage, but if I touch the accelerator the problems start
