Today I shopped in two seperate supermarket-type shops belonging to two different chains and noticed a new and sneaky way of raising money from us lot.

There is a sudden increase in the widespread misplacing of shelf edge labels. the shelf edge labels are placed below premium products but bear the description and pricing of a cheaper product which is not on the shelf. The writing is small but the price is large. So you see something that you recognise and see a favourable price above/below it - only realising at the checkout or on your receipt that the price you paid is more - in some cases much more. I noticed that it never worked the other way around though.

Have a look - there is now a lot of this around and I've been in these places for decades and never noticed it before.

I bought a packet of biscuits today, it was cheaper to two single packs than a twin value pack.

If the shelf pricing is wrong, take a photo and report the store to your local trading standards

I'm sick of supermarkets ripping us all off, yet all we do is moan!

It's about time everyone got together and took action, anyone noticed how much Hovis bread keeps going up & up ? Well I questioned one supermarket manager over this and he said the price increases have to be reflected by manufacturer increases, I was already armed with some evidence over his comment and it was a letter from Hovis showing me the trade prices of all Hovis products & their RRP prices as to what shops should be charging, Hovis had not increased it's trade prices in 1 year, it was the supermarkets that was fleecing me/us......I showed him my letter with the prices, he read and went quiet then started to go red in the face, i'd put him on the spot which showed they are the ones increasing prices and it's theft of people's money, the next day all Hovis products had been reduced by 25p per item, that went on for months but now the 25p is back on.......
