2008 Focus Heater reisitor

Featured Replies

Hi Guys.

My daughters 08 Focus heater fan not working on 1 & 2 , i have located it . however not as young and agile as i one was (71 years old ) lol.

I have managed to unplug the wire but cannot reach the screws to remove the old resistor .

i have plugged in the new resistor and yes it is shot.

My question is it important the it has to be reinstalled into the heater box, my concern is does it need to be reinstalled to cool it ????

Your thoughts Please.

Roger ( OAP) lol

Given that a resistor generates heat when 'active' i.e. being fed power, I wouldn't expect the new resistor to survive very long without airflow.

Ultimately I doubt the manufacturers would place them is hard to reach places to ensure airflow, if it wasn't necessary TBH.

Yes it most definitely does need to go back inside the box to ensure it is cooled and to prevent risk of fire.👍
