2012 Galaxy Central Locking Issue

Featured Replies

Please help!

I've purchased a 2012 Galaxy 2.0 TDCi with a known central locking problem - naively thinking I could sort that, no problem.

Now I'm here hoping desperately that someone else has experienced (and fixed!) this:

Remote key fob does the following:

- Locks nearside doors

- Locks boot

- Moves very slightly the lock switch (above door handle) on the offside doors, but NOT enough to lock them. It also makes the lock/unlock sound on this side similar to when you press the lock button with the door open (like it's trying to lock but can't and unlocks)

- Unlocks boot

The remote key fob unlocks no other doors.

Turning the key in the driver's door locks and unlocks that door ONLY.

I've reprogrammed remote fob, tested door module fuses in the boot and disconnected battery for 15 minutes to reset computer with no luck.

A signal is obviously getting through and it appears to be trying to do what it should, but can't. ANY HELP WOULD BE AMAZING!

I had the same problem.  Neither front door would reliably open on the key fob, but would very occasionally.  The latches have a feeble spring action - with plastic parts that wear out.  The only answer is to replace the lock mechanism - was about £40 each side for the parts off Ebay and a couple of hours labour.  Now both doors open and close on the fob. Worth doing as the alternative was to keep using the window opening feature holding down the button, but that'll just lead to failing window regulators!

Amazing, thank you! I actually ordered a driver side mechanism from eBay last night thinking it couldn't hurt to swap for the price but sounds like I'll need to order the passenger side one too!

Thanks again.

For anyone having the same issue - I actually found that Land Rover Freelander 2 (2006-2015) uses the same actuator and they're available new for significantly less than their Ford equivalent.

Part no. for driver's door: LR011275

I just had to swap the latch mechanism from the Ford as they're slightly different and all good now!

Yes, there was a lot of commonality with various Fords, Volvos, and Jag X Type. When we briefly had one I was amused to find the glove box catch seemed to be exactly the same as our Mk 1 Ka!
