Me again

Another niggle i've finally got fed with- the boot release in the boot no longer works. The fob release works fine though. I've change the switch in the tail gate trim and it still doesn't work. I seem to recall the problem started after my battery went flat a couple of years ago (I've put up with this problem for that long). I've checked the wiring in the tail gate and all is fine. There is no damage or broken wires.

If the battery went flat, is there a setting in the computer that might need to be looked at? This is proper head scratcher now.

There’s nothing that needs resetting for the tailgate if you’ve had the battery disconnected. 
 

Main items like that are the one-shot windows, time on the cluster and possibly the radio code but that’s it from memory. 

Not sure if there’s a fuse that covers the tailgate latch, may be worth checking plus disconnect the new switch and check it for continuity when you operate it. 

What did you replace the tailgate switch with? I've experience of 3 cheap Ebay Chinese cr*p, all failed after very short lengths of time. My current one, a genuine Ford switch from a breaker is now coming up to a years use with no issue...

If the double click on the fob works, demonstrates that the mechanism/wiring to lock is just fine.
