abs wiring

Featured Replies

Hi All still trying to get my n/s/f abs sorted, changed the sensor , checked wiring for the sensor back to the abs module all ok. Someone suggested the multi plug to the right of the battery. I have done a few check on continuity, and voltage. I get battery voltage at all of the  pins apart from a grey wire also when doing the continuity  check I will be able to get continuity across two different when touched cable at the same time.   (ie checking the red cable and green and red will also buzz) can any one tell me if this is correct. The next thing after this is to strip the hub to check the magnetic ring  Any help would be much appreciated.

Hello Ronnie, as it stands at the moment the problem could be one of a number of things:

  • Faulty ABS wheel sensor
  • Faulty ABS wheel ring/hub
  • Damaged wiring
  • Corroded connectors
  • Faulty ABS module.

I don't unfortunately have the wiring schematic for your S-Max year but checking the wiring information for the 2013 model, I can see that all wheel sensors connect to the ABS module via one connector. I expect it will be the same for your car, just the wire colours and connector pin numbers will be different.

To narrow down the issue, I'd swap over the connections for the front o/s and front n/s on the actual connector to the ABS module. If the problem transfers sides then you can rule out a fault with the ABS module.

Then it is a case of repeating the swap process by changing over the wheel speed sensors on the front wheels.
