Change Focus ST mk4 headlights with mk4.5 ones

Featured Replies

Hi,

I've recently bought a used Focus ST mk 4 2019 and I wanted known if it would be possible to change the front headlights with the new ones of the 2023 Focus ST mk 4.5.

My doubt is related to compatibility between the models. Going from memory, the 2019 model already includes the assistant for automatic headlight switching. The problem lies in the fact that the 2023 version, with full LED matrix headlights, also includes automatic high beam switching, with obstacle detection (if I remember correctly). So I don't know whether the presence of additional sensors is necessary or the present equipment can be enough.

The alternative would be to fit the full LED headlights provided by the ST-Line model, without the matrix technology. Again, would it be possible to mount them without any problems, or do you guys think it is necessary to install additional equipment?

Thank you in advance.
Marda

They’re a totally different shape. The lights won’t fit without the rest of the face lifted front end.

Why do you want to change them? From what I’ve read the Mk4 adaptive lights are better than the facelift anyway.

I really like the new ones. Not that the old ones aren't beautiful, in fact they are very attractive too, but I much prefer the new nose, and these headlights even more.

So you say that because of size it is not possible to fit them into the old model?

The lights will not fit without at least the facelift bumper. I don't know if the wings or bonnet changed.

Looking at panel replacement suppliers, they list the same front wings and bonnet for the Focus Mk4 and Mk4.5 The front bumper is different and so is the wiring harness for the headlights.

So the only possible solution is buying the facelift of the mk4.5?

I don't know anything about the Ford Model: Varzu  but if it is like a Focus Mk4 then you can not just fit the headlights from a Focus Mk4.5 with out changing the bumper.
