Ford smax 2.0 tdci starting issue

Featured Replies

Hello fellow forders, my problem is one day I was driving and my 2007 smax stalled so fired her back up again went on the school run and then wouldn't start again, got her home amd changed high pressure fuel pump and fuel filter housing, bled her up and all, left her for 3 days due to family, went to her this morning with a fully charged battery and she started like new, 5 mins goes by with her ticking over and bamb she stalls, then nothing just cranks no start, I'm just curious if you guys may think it could be a battery problem or alternator fault? Many thanks. Dan.

Have you used FORScan to ask the car whats wrong with it ? 🤔

Unless you get the Ford specific DTC's using FORScan then it's a pure guessing game.

Did scan and shows low voltage input to multiple sensors, I've had new battery on charge overnight, so going to do the school run and then give her another try with a fresh battery and see how long she ticks over, that's if she does start, just baffling me at the minute.

try a fully charged battery, then read the voltage with a multimeter when running across the battery, anything less than 13.8v is an alternator issue
