2015 2.0 diesel ABS, Traction control, and more warnings

Featured Replies

Going to work this morning  the Traction control and ABS lights came on with a hill start assist warning and followed by Emergency City Stop. Couple of miles all cleared on their own few more miles and all came back and remained on for the next 20 miles. On return journey all messages and warnings were missing on starting but getting upto 15-20 miles all came back and stayed on. On parking,  the side proximity sensors seem not to work though the rear ones did. Trying to work out why I selected  the Active Park Assist, fault message comes up on radio display.

Any ides what testing I could do or any experience of all the faults at the same time.  Thanks in advance

Battery 'State Of Charge' is very probably low. Check battery voltage with a multimeter approx 1 hour after parking.

Appreciate the answer.  I’ll get my meter on it tomorrow and measure the voltage after an hour. I do have a Smart charger (CTEK 5 with the AGM option) so I can give it ago as well if needed.

Is your battery not a 'EFB' type ?

Remember to connect the negative charger lead to the chassis earth point and not to the battery terminal. Charge it for a full 12 hours regardless of what the charger is indicating. The CTEK 5, can not over charge the battery.

Just to add- I posted similar issue recently i.e. ABS/Hill Start/City Stop errors plus on one occasion EML and Oil Warning. I changed battery 3 days ago been ok up to now.

It’s the original Ford one as fitted .  I mentioned the the AGM option just to identify the charger, apologies for confusion.

@PetercoJust re read your issue, it jogged my memory the alternator was changed on this car (stopped charging) 18 months ago and the auto stop/start hasn’t worked since. No amber warning either, and a bms reset was done as it was questioned with the garage after.. They did it a second time, but since I normally disabled it anyway, I never followed it up.  Appreciate the steer

Just to provide Feedback - did a voltage check before going out in it, 12.37V  I reckon 75% on the chart provided but I will do it again an hour after driving as suggested. I'm going to try and get the codes read later by a friend with a reader.

I meant to add to my earlier comment that my battery was coming up to 5yrs old so probably needed changing anyway so that was a good start for me getting new battery.

Fixed - so just for info for others that read this post.  Battery was checked as suggested, first reading just on the limit but when I re did after an hour after switch of it was 12.55.  Friend’s cheap no brand OBD reader showed rear left wheel sensor “failed” and remained failed after reset.   Tried Forscan from someone else who contacted me it showed same sensor but indicated wrong component fitted. This is the original ford fitted item. Car was serviced a month later and the indie garage changed the sensor and all the failed indication and issues cleared. Also noticed that the all round parking assistance now mutes the radio where as the degraded front back only, whilst the fault was there, doesn't.
