Hello Everyone,

 

I am having problem with locking Ford Tourneo Custom 2018. It shows error as load compartment door is open.

 

previously it was not opening lift gate door, after changing external locking relay, lift gate is working normally but now vehicle is not getting locked as it shows error of door opened.

 

i have checked all cables, physically there is no damage

what relay have you changed ? please post photos The tailgate locking should be directly controlled by the Body Control Module (BCM)

Going right back to the beginning, before you changed anything what was the exact problems you were having ?

Liftgate latch was not working, mechanic had changed latch but still it was not working. I check the wiring and fuses and found external locking relay was having problem. After replacing relay lift gate latch is working fine.

 

note: external locking relay is 5 pin relay, two circuits relay. It was the only one relay with 5 pins in fuse boxes.

Which fuesbox was that relay in ? and what relay number was it ?

I'm looking at both the schematics for the UK Tourneo Custom and all 3 fuse boxes, there is no relay for external locking 🤔

Passenger Compartment fuse box, Relay Number R11 (External Locking)

Central Locking System Relay

this relay was mentioned as External Locking at owner manual which was available in vehicle.

Yes it is UK model

Still can't see where the relay the OP has changed fits in with the tail lift. Need to put my glasses on and have a proper look. 🤔

I see it now 🤣

He has now also mentioned green rust on the connector to latch.
