Forscan mythbusting

Featured Replies

Evening guys, first post of many here I hope. First ones a little bit of a strange and potentially interesting one.

last year I helped someone out and got their van to do a dpf regen so it would start up and they could drive home using forscan.

the owners now saying he’s taken it into the garage and that the mechanics are saying they can’t do anything to his van as the dpf service I ran a year ago has them locked out of the vans system.

this can’t be right can it? From running a service program? I’d love to know your thoughts and opinions on this with more experience behind you all. Especially when it comes to using different software on the same motor.

cheers guys, any help is appreciated or if someone can say this is true or false.

will definitely think twice about helping someone get all their gear home at the end of the day next time if this is true!🫤

There is no way that is true.

If they are trying to do another Regeneration and can't then maybe it is because the DPF is too blocked, the cars PCM will not allow a Regeneration to occur if the Differential Pressure is greater than a certain amount.

I confirm what John @Tizer is saying is correct. It is just not possible for FORScan to be able to prevent further regens from being done.

Morning guys, thanks very much for that. Does not make any sense to me whatsoever either, I have a sneaking suspicion that someone wants me to take accountability for something. It’s a relief to read though.

I will keep this updated with any developments just incase they say anything else, should get a laugh out of it atleast!

cheers.

I confirm that Unofix is right to confirm what John said.

No way, it's just a service function that can no longer be activated once the final parameters have been met

It is not your issue that the operator of the vehicle has neglected to ensure that the DPF regenerates fully each cycle

Is it just the DPF regen that they can't do or no OBD connection at all?  If no OBD connection, check the fuse for the port.

Yeah, it’s just a means of reading the vehicle info isn’t it and nothing more. My understanding of it is like that. Many systems you can use. Thanks.

Not sure yet mate all will become clear soon and I’ll post an update just incase anything really weird going on. Cheers

Looks like nothing has come of this strange accusation. I haven’t been contacted again in order to go back and help get the van started.

hopefully they’ve found something else to blame it on.

If anything else does happen I will update but it looks like that’s all. Thanks for all your help guys.
