Focus 2015 Ecoboost - Need help with MyKey thing

Featured Replies

I recently bought Focus 2015 1L Base Model, it came with only one key and it didn't have MyKey activated at first but then I turned it on just to see how it works and as I mostly drives in the city it wasn't affecting me at all so I kept it on and thought I'll see how the speed limiter works when I get to motorway. Then last week, I changed the Infotainment system to 10 inch android screen which I got from eBay because I need Apple Carplay. Then yesterday, I went on motorway and saw that MyKey feature doing it's thing (beep every time when go 70 n above, beep 3 times every time when touches 80) and it felt annoying so I tried to turned it off but that option was gone I thought maybe because it's running car so I tried again when I stopped but same thing, that option completely gone and now it shows that car has 2 registered keys 1 Admin and 1 MyKey. I thought it created 2nd key profile because of new Infotainment has Admin profile saved on old Infotainment so today I tried putting my old Infotainment back to turn it off but even after that It's not showing that admin option to turn it off. I saw few tricks on internet and tried which not buying another key but none of it works. Please help me turn it off. Thank you

Hi Jimil,

It sounds as if the key you didn't get was the Admin Key with which you would normally programme/de-programme My Key.

I think you would probably need something like Forscan to do the job without an Admin Key, but I have seen a suggestion you can do it without. This is a US site but I think the system is similar.

Other more tech-savvy members might come up with something else, hopefully.

Another suggestion I have seen is disconnecting the battery for a couple of hours.

Your experience does show how important it is to ensure you get 2 keys when buying a car. Presumably you didn't buy it from a dealer? If so they should sort this out.

The "MyKey" function is designed to stop children playing with the car 🤣

You can use FORScan to turn off the MyKey function and delete the settings.

The legal limit is 70 anyway so a reminder there is not a bad thing. "Intelligent speed assistance" systems in current cars do the same trick at any limit - 20, 30, 40, 50,60 and 70 - now that's annoying!😀
