Mk3 1.5tdci 95hp Pros and Cons

Featured Replies

I got my eye on a Focus Wagon, 2017, 1.5tdci, 95hp, low mileage. Price, not so bad. After the used diesel Focus with low mileage.

Any advice or suggestion on what to look for on final car inspection?

Thanks for any advice!

Mk3 1.5 TDCI engine is generally reliable.  Occasionally the in-tank fuel pump fails, but in that case, the engine won't start, or will cut out at high RPM, so easy to check.  And they do seem to leak diesel around the engine bay more than other models, so check the plastic low pressure pipework carefully.  The cambelt isn't due until 10 years if low mileage.

Other than that it's just general MK3 issues, faulty AC and door seals hanging off etc.

Thanks Tom! Hope Mk3 with this engine is as good as Lynx 1.8tdci....and as for door seals, AC faults...well let's put it under future adventures...
