Front and rear fog light failure, reverse light, rear windsh

Featured Replies

Hello,

I have a 2008 Ford Focus mk2.5 1.8 TDCi.

I no longer have front and rear fog lights, reverse light, rear windshield wiper, or windshield washer pump.

Here’s what I’ve discovered:

- I have 6 volts at the fuse for the non-working elements when I try to activate them with the stalk switches.
- Sometimes when I try to turn on my front fog lights, my wipers activate on their own.
- When I remove a ground in the trunk on the left rear pillar and press the brakes, my front fog lights and washer pump work again, but nothing else.

Here’s what I’ve already done:

- Checked the fuses
- Checked the grounds
- Changed the stalk switches
- Rebooted GEM with FORScan
- Rerouted certain grounds, including the wiper stalk ground, resulting in the fog light indicator disappearing when they are supposed to be activated.

Here’s what the AUTEL scan tool says:

- B2115
- B2086
- B2035:20
- U0201:20

If you have any ideas, I’ve been searching for two weeks now :(

Thank you very much.

Either water ingress damage to the GEM (95% guaranteed)

Or Instrument cluster solder fault (But I doubt it)

All of your issues are the lower left hand fuses in the diagram.
I would start by checking the GEM connector C96 Pin 21 (the large central pin).

I'll up that to 99% failure of the GEM due to water ingress 🙁

I disassembled the GEM, but there are no signs of oxidation or water infiltration 😣

Regarding the solder joints behind the dashboard, I had a similar issue before, but I recently resoldered everything.

For the GEM connector C96 Pin 21, I will check if it is properly engaged and without any signs of corrosion ?

Additionally, I have a blue connector at the driver's footwell, and when I disconnect it, all the fog light indicators come back on.

Do you think a relay could be causing this? Considering that I haven't seen a relay related to all my problems, and my low beams are working.

Thank you !
