Hi,

I have owned a '73 plate MHEV Focus ST Line X for 3 months now. Everything works fine but about 50% of the time when I start the engine there is a bong bong sound from the instrument cluster. No alarm lights, nothing but this sound. Only happens within 30 secs of the engine starting or moving off. My dealer has no clue what it is. Has anyone else experienced this sound? I would just like to know what is causing it, although the car is driving fine.

Yes, my '73 plate does this too.  I've always assumed that it's maybe Android Auto connecting, but no other clue really.

Mine lets me know when I've opened the door, maybe the bong bong is to let you know the engine is running.

 

I also get the same bong bong just after starting and it also does it when the map the loads after freezing . I personally think it's something to do with the maps and possibly having the warnings switched on for things like speed cameras.

I think you are probably right 

Thanks Nimrodmk3 but the bong bong is intermittent, some days it does not do it at all, so I don't think is to say the engine is running.

mine does as well doesnt seem to do it after a short stop

i turned all the warnings off on the maps and it no longer does it on start up
