Speed limiters arrive for all new cars in the European Union

Should be noted that as we are no longer in the EU, the speed limiters do not legally apply to us. Some cars for economy of scale reasons may be fitted with them, but they will be allowed to be disabled, if you don't fancy the government taking another encroachment into your life...

FORScan will be busy🤪

A lot of cars (including Ford) have Intelligent Speed Assistance already - some are more easily disabled than others. On my Mk 8.5 Fiesta  ISA only operates if you switch it on, and you can switch off by pressing one button on the steering wheel. It stays off even when you restart the car, unless you switch it back on again.

It's more usual, though, for it to operate like stop/start and activate automatically at every start, and then need to be switched off. On some cars it's still a one button press, so not so bad, but on others which have most stuff on the touchscreen, it can be several layers of menu to get there, so a PITA.

The accuracy or otherwise of the system depends on GPS data being up to date and signs being properly placed**, clean and not obscured by vegetation, which is often not the case, as I've commented on other threads.

** There are 2 roundabouts near me which are on NSL (60) main roads, but some of the side exits are 40. If ISA is activated, it picks up the 40 signs as you go around the roundabout. A simple answer would be to place the signs a few yards further along the minor road, but this is obviously too hard for National Highways/the local council to figure out.
