Carpetright demise, should we care...

Featured Replies

Was sad to read about the potential demise of Carpetright, with 272 stores and almost 2000 staff  all facing an unsteady future.

I was interested to note that one of the reasons quoted was a huge cyber attack they had back in March lasting a week. This not only crashed their Head Office systems, but also impacted on their sales, and even their staff who couldn't even access their own payroll systems.

Awful to think that some moron sitting in his underpants in mummy's house can destroy a real life business.

I'm not sure what lessons we can learn, but the reliance on 'tech' for all of us should be a worry, and yes, in my opinion, we should all care...

Never a good thing to see a big employer shutting their doors regardless of what you think of them or their products. In this case there's 2000 staff not knowing where their next pay packets going to come from, no doubt that the bosses and higher up office staff will be able to relocate etc but the workers on the shop floor ie the ones that took the money in, are the ones I feel sorry for.

Another possible closure. .

Sadly with all this global warming, who needs a tumble dryer these days? 🙁

I have total confidence that Sir Flip Flop will have the economy turned around and full employment for all illegal (sorry) legal UK citizens by next Friday tea time 🤣

Let's hope it's before 6pm, he knocks off then... 😂
