Dashcams & Your Insurance

Invalidate your insurance but they'll still want the footage

I'd doubt many insurers would care, my prior employer certainly didn't and there was well published material internally about the FCA having a go at insurers invalidating policies for things that didn't contribute to a claim. This would likely be covered by that.

Possibly, and maybe it's MSM hype & 'click bate', but (and as I said in the other thread) you can't be too careful. In my experience, insurance providers are very quick to take ones money, but when it comes to paying out, any excuse not to do so, and they're on it like a car bonnet, so why take the risk?

The other angle to this story, is that you may get a reduced premium (I've yet to see any evidence, mind) for having a Dashcam fitted. Also, if the camera is seen as restricting ones forward view, then you can be prosecuted for that. In fact (and this also talks to the other thread) I've heard of a driver being given a ticket for having a Air Freshener hanging from the rear view mirror (maybe the cop was having a bad day, or something, but it happens).
