I've just started on the one before - A Heart Full of Headstones.

Well, finished that one. I'd been half thinking Rebus will end up in jail, but his old adversary Big Ger might save his bacon. As he's now banged up for the alleged murder of Big Ger, that's blown that theory out of the water! On to the next one!

On a completely different tack, the Mail on Sunday had a brief feature on General Sir Adrian Carton De Wiart, one of those larger than life characters whose story reads like fiction.

He was said to be the inspiration for Brigadier Ritchie-Hook in Evelyn Waugh's Sword of Honour trilogy and his own autobiography Happy Odyessy is an interesting read.

Or just look him up on the web - they certainly don't make them like that any more!

Just finished Midnight and Blue by Ian Rankin.

As of last night's bedtime cuppa, me too!

Cracking read as usual from Ian Rankin.

Not sure I'll be able to read it without putting on his accent though! 🤣

Finally!!! Finished the Stephen King a couple of nights ago 😀 really enjoyed it 👍

So this was next on the list. Nice big print so I can sometimes read 3 pages before I fall asleep! 🤣

Handy if you lose your specs then!😀 Not tried any of Richard's yet, so interested to see what you think.

Just reaching the end of The Traitor of Arnhem by Robert Verkaik. Although it focuses on Operation Market Garden of A Bridge too Far fame, it goes into a lot of WW2 espionage and as a fan of a good spy story I found it fascinating. It's not a novel, though, but factual, though I'm sure if John Le Carre or Len Deighton had written something like it you'd find it hard to believe!

I've already read a couple of his 'Thursday Murder Club ' books. Quite an easy read, nothing too complicated..... not like your war espionage stories sound like! 😀
