I have a water leak that has developed after a pressure wash…….the water seems to be coming in from the under plastic roof rails and dripping through the back air vents……can someone please tell me, how the plastic rails come off?

Hi , on the MK3 you have to drop the headlining to get to the nuts that secure the rails.  (shouldn't assume but think it will be same)  See the attached link and post, did mine, found cracks in the Ford body seal (see pics) re-sealed, been fine ever since.   Good luck.

Thanks for your reply and info……on my mk2 estate, they’re not real rails, but just plastic strips that sit in the roof groove each side, they also have two small covers on each one, that you can remove with a coin, which I guess is where you fit a roof rack…….they don’t seem thick enough to be bolted on, so would think they’ll be either held on by clips, or just stuck.

I think they're just stuck on with adhesive originally.  That might have dried out now.  If you start peeling them up from the tailgate end, you should quickly see if there are any fixings.  We have seen cracks appear underneath these trim pieces which can let water in.

That’s great, thanks, I’ll try that👍🏻
