Temp gauge issue

Featured Replies

I have a 58 plate focus 1.8 duratech petrol. From starting the engine cold within 50 seconds the temp gauge goes straight to 90 degrees. I got the the temp sensor changed but hasn’t solved the issue! So has anyone else had this and managed to fix it? It never goes above 90 but I don’t trust the gauge now to tell me if it does over heat so would like to get it working again. Thanks for any info

if you unplug the sensor, what temperature does it show ?

It stays at 60 the fan immediately comes on and the revs drop straight away to 900. When it’s in it goes to 90 straight away no fan comes on but the blowers blow hot air quickly

That would seem totally normal.

The operating temperature of your engine should be around 87 - 88C so the gauge showing approx 90C is to be expected.

it's normal mate.  mine does the same.  have a read here, nothing to worry about.  It'll let you know if car overheats.

Even from starting totally cold? I’ve driven a lot of other cars and the gauges all creep up to 90 as it warms. I’ve never seen one go straight to 90deg from cold after 50 seconds of the engine running
