New battery, original or is cheaper one good enough?

Featured Replies

So my ford focus 2015 died the other day and turned out, the battery is dead. Roughly 72000km. When I called my garage / shop they told my ford motors/engines are picky and if I have the wrong battery it might draw more battery or be more harsh to the engine. Is that true? Do I need to stick to the original battery that ford sells for double the price I can find somewhere else?

Thanks in advance

if the car has start stop function you need a different battery and are more expensive any good motor factors should be able to tell you what you need, you will probably have to rest the bms to tell the car its a new battery thats also any easy enough process you dont need any special tools for that

I detect a very large pile of Bull S#1t

Provided the replacement battery is equal to, or greater than the original in terms of its Ah and CCA ratings then it will be totally fine. If your vehicle is fitted with Stop/Start then you should ideally replace with another S/S battery.

Many here on the forum prefer to use the Yuasa brand as it seems to offer better performance at a much lower cost than that of a Ford branded battery.

As said previously, bulls#1t.

I would recommend the correct Yuasa battery for your car. I use them, they seem to last very well.

Look at this website: https://www.tayna.co.uk/ enter your registration number and they will recommend the correct battery, but check the dimensions to ensure the one you order will fit in the space for the battery.

Tayna appear to have good prices, and offer next working day delivery.
