Ford S Max B10EA Code Help please

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, another fault with my S Max, I'm getting the code B10A:13-2F Positive Temperature Coefficient Heater. The code normally comes and goes, but now is constant. Anyone know what it could be please?

Thanks

That's the Supplemental Electric Heater that supplements the normal interior Heater when the outside and/or Coolant temperature is less than a certain figure.

Check the Fuses, there may be two or three high amperage one for it.

I would think the same, but did they fit an electric supplemental heater on a petrol S-Max way back in 2010 ?

I don't know for sure but it may be one of the higher end spec ones.

I can't think of any other PCT Heaters that are normally fitted to cars.

I forgot to mention, it is a titanium x sport one, I believe for the time the highest spec model, with rear entertainment, blinds on the back windows, sat nav, heated / cooled seats, etc etc

It probably does have the Heater then. The Fuses may be called Supplemental Heater or something of that nature and are probably 40 or 60 Amps.

Petrols are so thermally inefficient they didn't generally need aux heaters.

The only one in the 2010 S-Max handbook is specifically listed as diesel.  F16 under the bonnet.

Maybe the BCM or another Module has been replaced with a second hand one from a Diesel. If the mileage is stored in the BCM then it would be easy to check with FORScan at the point it first connects to the car.

I agree that Petrol cars didn't often have PTC Heaters, although my Petrol car definitely has a PTC Heater and it is a Titanium.

If the OP checks what is fitted to their car, all will be revealed.
